Our People
Squid & Pear is a family business set up and run by epicurean sisters, Claire (Pear) and Lisa (Squid). And no, we don’t specialize in squid dishes with pear – the name Squid & Pear comes from their nephew, Erik being unable to pronounce ‘Claire’ aged two, so Claire became ‘Pear’. Erik also thought that aunty Lisa resembled Squidward from Spongebob Squarepants and so ‘Aunty Squiddy’ she became and Aunty Squiddy she will remain as he’s now passed this down to his two younger sisters, Lois and Martha.

Claire is top-notch Michelin-trained chef who has worked alongside many of the industry’s most revered names in some of London’s finest restaurants. A little over 13 years has passed by now and Claire’s passion for cooking just keeps on growing… If you ever get her on the subject of seafood, you may be there for some time talking breeds, weird fishy facts and the marvels of hazelnut butter on a langoustine…

Lisa’s toes have dipped in a vocational water or two. Her early years were a somewhat colourful mix of careers, from fixing teeth in a converted campervan in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Aboriginal communities in South Australia to, more recently, location management and photoshoot production for the likes of Vogue, Vanity Fair and W magazine, as well as large brand advertising campaigns. But amongst all that, Lisa will tell you that her best years have been spent trotting her way around the globe on the hunt for dinosaur remains and eating – anything, everything, everywhere.
